Suntech S.A. has announced today a commercial launch of the SunVizion Network Information Management System (NIM). This innovative telecom IT solution that helps network operators to rationalize their OSS infrastructure, optimize business processes, speed up network rollouts and in consequence decrease their CAPEX and OPEX. SunVision NIM provides a common, standard-based information framework to the OSS applications and Business Process Management systems. The concept of NIM were developed and commercialized by Suntech in a close cooperation with several leading Mobile, Triple Play and Internet Services Providers.
To decrease the CAPEX and OPEX operators need a unified and comprehensive view of their networks and a quick access to all key network information. ?Today, telecom network data is highly fragmented and scattered over numerous systems, databases and files. It is often stored in inconsistent, vendor-specific formats.? says Andrzej Saczuk, VP Product Management at Suntech. ?By working with several leading mobile, broadband and cable operators we realized that the lack of network data harmonization and unification has negative impact on the efficiency of their investments and operations.? concludes Saczuk.
The concept of a Network Information Management System (NIM), introduced by Suntech, aims at meeting the operators? needs by offering a single point of network information. In the same way as customer-related business processes share the key subscriber data stored in a CRM, the network-related processes and applications can share the information stored in NIM. This radically simplifies system integration, optimizes operations and, in consequence, helps to reduce CAPEX and OPEX.
SunVIzion NIM is a process optimization-oriented system. The prime objective of aggregation and unification of network data is to smartly use it for the optimization of business processes related to network investments, rollouts and operations as well as for the overall improvement of business performance. By constantly interworking with business processes and OSS applications NIM ?proactively? captures and analyses all data related to the network architecture, configuration, status and performance. This two-way interaction allows NIM to ?feed? business processes with correct data and maintain its consistency with the real network.
NIM?s ?intelligent repository? enables flexible and quick modeling of different network technologies and physical and logical network architectures. The NIM data model is based on the TM Forum Information Framework (SID), an industry-wide standard used by majority of service providers. SID provides a reference information model that allows more effective integration between different OSS/BSS applications and enables implementation of service-oriented solutions conformant with the TM Forum Frameworx Integrated Business Architecture (www.tmforum.org).
Suntech offers several OSS applications based on the NIM information framework, such as Network Planning, Network Rollout Management, Network Inventory Management, Network Configuration Management, Workflow Management and others. SunVizion NIM follows the principles of SOA and is integrated with leading Business Process Management engines (e.g. TIBCO), Fault Management Systems (e.g. IBM NetCool) and other commonly used OSS elements.
The SunVizion applications have already proved their business value during the deployment one of the first commercial LTE network in the world, by Aero2, and for several other 3G, fiber optic and cable operators including Orange, Plus, Aster, Vectra, Inea, Sferia and other.
